Talk:Documentation/OOo3 User Guides/Writer Guide/Cross-referencing between subdocuments

I have followed these directions meticulously, and they do not work. I believe they refer to an older version of OO; certainly they do not work in OO 3.x. Specifically, after I have set a reference in one subdocument and then open another from the master document, the reference in the first subdocument is not listed. Why should it be? There needs to be some mechanism to tell OpenOffice that the desired cross-reference is in another file/subdocument, and currently there is no way to do this.
