Detailed Specification

Graphics d&d from application:

done (fixed in between)

Paste pics from web:

  • if you d&d a pic from web you get an HTML code instead of the pic -> a copy of the pic should be stored in the document (like by d&d from other application)
  • pasting from web pics from URL (Insert > Picture > From file> URL) causes "Unknow graphics format" error -> should work like d&d a pic from web
  • url placeholder look really ugly and trashes the view ->
  1. the url text should not be shown, but only the graphic
  2. the url text should be shown by hovering over the graphics (tiphelp)

Switch off animated gifs:

at the moment animated gifs are played by default ->

  1. switch the animation off by default
  2. allow an option to switch on/off gif annimation

Impress formula font too small:

  1. raise the font to 16pt as default
  2. make this setting changable

Option for default font:

provide the change of setting for default text (ont the gui) -> good location would be tools/options/fonts

Remember sidepane tab position:

at the moment it switch back to the default 'layout' -> should remember last accessed element until you switch to another slide.

Duration of pause to 0:

In Slide Show settings (Slide Show/Slide Show Settings) for the "duration of pause before the slide show is repeated" defaults to 10 seconds -> Set the default to 0 seconds.

Zoom fit to width:

Size of area to work should fit itself every time when user add or hide panel. That does not work after changing the zoom factor (menue:view/zoom/) -> it should do so.

Allow slide scrolling:

by scrolling a slide and reaching the slide border you should have the possibility to scroll further to the next slide like MS ppt provides it.

Pagepane off (Draw):

Pagepane in Draw is on by default ->

  1. switch it off by default
  2. should switch on if you insert second page

Pages in Pagepane (Draw):

the pages in the pagepane are named 'Slide 1', 'Slide 2' etc. -> should be named as 'Page 1' etc..

Delete Layout tabs (Draw):

the Layout Tabs 'Controls' & 'Dimension Lines' are redundant -> please delete them.

Downsize Zoomslider range:

at the moment we have a max range of 3000% wich is too much, also by clicking on the +/- symbols it moves in 5% steps, but 10% would be more handy ->

  • max range 600%
  • +/- 10% steps

Wrong default in printersettings:

craete a presentation and go to f.e. in notes mode & print => you await to print the notes (but default in printersettings is 'slide') .. also for the other modi (handout, notes, outline). -> print the choosen view by default.

Remove printing transparent dialog:

the dialog by printing transparent is redundant, before it does not solve anything -> check if printing transparent on picture background is faster (bigger file) than in pdf, else rethinkt to print such files as pdf as default.

Default user animation:

'Appear' is the most simple animation and has to be preselected (currently default in engl. offices, but in foreign offices first entry in listbox, sorted alphabetically).

Propose 16:9, 4:3:

in page setup you can change the side ratio, but common formats like 16:9, 16:10 etc should be selectable .. and maybe a fitting for 16:9 pc and 4:3 beamer etc..

Long Menue items aplhabetic:

if you open the menue under View/Toolbars, you get a long list which seems to be alphabetic sorted (about 90% is) but isn't. -> provide alphabetic sorted entries (hyperlink bar, color bar).

Own theme as default in gallery:

if you open the 'gallery' the default setting is animation, but if you have inserted own themes the setting 'My Theme' would fit much better as default.

Allow quick editing - change text:

if you change the 'allow quick editing' mode (tools/options/impress/general), you change within the click behavior of textboxes from singleclick to doubleclick, but the text headder in the default layouts is not changed (add title with click).

Keep Ratio as default:

  1. use 'keep ratio' as default by resizing of an graphic object
  2. use 'shift' key if you do not want to keep ration by resizing of an graphic object

Accessibility is the responsibility of the I-Team, beginning with UX, DEV and QA, to ensure that the following requirements are fulfilled:

  1. Is the feature fully keyboard accessible?
(Ex: "I can go everywhere and use every function using the keyboard only"

  2. Have I specified visual alternatives for the case that the specified feature includes audio as output?
  3. Are text alternatives for all icons and graphics available?
    <Start typing here>
  4. Don't provide important information in colors alone
(Ex: marking important information hard coded in red)

  5. Does the specified feature respect system settings for font, size, and color for all windows and user interface elements?
  6. Have I ensured that flash rates do not exceed 2 hertz for blinking text, objects, or other elements? In any case, try to avoid flashing UI elements
  7. Ensure that assistive technology (AT) (like ZoomText or Orca) is able to read everything.

If you need help while designing, implementing or testing the accessibility of the UI, ask/visit:

  1. The accessibility check list at the OpenOffice.org Wiki
  2. accessibility@ui.openoffice.org (The accessibility mailing lists, preferred)
  3. For specific implementation details, architecture: mt@openoffice.org (Malte Timmermann)
  4. For specific UX and testing questions: es@openoffice.org (Éric Savary)

The Gridhandling default changes belongs to Impress and Draw application.
