I change the font color, but it still looks black. Why?

I've changed the font color for some text. When I look at Format > Character > Font Effects, I see the changed font color. But still on screen the font looks black.

Choose Tools > Options, then click OpenOffice.org > Accessibility. Ensure that 'Use automatic font color for screen display' is not selected.
