I first joined the Mac OS X porting team as a member of the Google Summer of Code 2006 program. I spent my Summer learning about OOo' source code and VCL in particular. I was able to add the Fullscreen capability and worked on some geometrical shapes representation. After the end of the program I decided to keep contributing, first because it is very interesting and because I am acquiring a valuable experience and second because it wouldn't have made sense to just stop after spending a lot of time trying to understand how the VCL is structured and learning the features of the Carbon API and how to use them.

How did I become an OOo developer?

I first joined the Mac OS X porting team as a member of the Google Summer of Code 2006 program. I spent my Summer learning about OOo' source code and VCL in particular. I was able to add the Fullscreen capability and worked on some geometrical shapes representation. After the end of the program I decided to keep contributing, first because it is very interesting and because I am acquiring a valuable experience and second because it wouldn't have made sense to just stop after spending a lot of time trying to understand how the VCL is structured and learning the features of the Carbon API and how to use them.
