Minutes

  1. How to get more QA and L10N TCM testers for quick and stable releases
    1. Status
      1. KO status: Had 4 testers for 3.0. Everybody in Korean community is volunteer. Aijin run test in l10n TCM but ko community could not do 3.1 L10n testing through TCM. Instead, 3 testers including Jeongkyu had done basic testing outside of TCM.
      2. ZH status: Got about 10 testers in 3.0 and 3.1. Most of testers are from Beijing Redflag CH2000. Could get near 10 volunteers but often they can't be available during testing period. Sun G11N team not always participate in release processes but Sun people actually run tests on Solaris platform.
      3. JA status: Got four testers with two QA managers (one manger was a tester). JA proejct has a very good tester, matuaki-san who always publishes his results when RC's are available. Sun G11N team works with all OSS products of Sun and not always participates in release processes. The number of participant was about 20 for l10n TCM. JA Lead asked Naoyuki (Sun) to publish an announcement which should contain all relevant infomation on L10N TCM.
      4. FR status: There is between 10 and 15 testers, depends on the period, they are all volunteers. They report issue they meet during testing on fr qa list.
    2. We need More Testers? Questions & Discussion
      1. Will more testers really help quick and stable releases? How to finish the test is more important for helping releases. Following the mailing lists, the current problems seem mostly be before QA. The first step is to have more testers for RCs, then we will be able to attract them also for testing DEV release and have more testers earlier in the QA process. This might be the problem because large testting effort starting at RCs is probably too late. Too late for the release, but it allows to build a group. RCs are less frightening than DEV releases.
      2. How do we OOo community call for more volunteers? Or how about marketing? How to get more people to know OOo? Can we share our marketing idea? When building RedOffice from OOo, testers often find much more bugs, but many of bugs can't be solved quickly so that More developers are needed! All software is same, but we need only decide which bugs must be solved.
    3. How to get more testers and developers. We share our experience.
      1. It's important to get some testers who can continueously participate.
  1. OpenOffice.org Regional Conference in Asia
    1. Cheng and Peter proposed it should be held after OOoCon 2009 Orvieto.
    2. They gave us reasons that RegioCon should be not too close to OOoCon, we need enough time to find topics for RegiCon, and if we have it before OOoCon 2009 Orvieto it's not so much time to organize it.
    3. 2010 spring would be a good time and we could have "RegiCon in spring, OOoCon in autumn," this would be a good frequency for the future. We all agreed :)
    4. Jeongkyu would like to host RegiCon Asia 2010 Spring in Seoul and no one objected but we all applauded :)
    5. We all agreed to start discussion planning "RegiCon Asia 2010 Spring in Seoul" on com@native-lang.openoffice.org
  2. CCC
  3. More coodinators
    1. Aijin asked Hirano to define the role of coordinator. Hirano tried to define, CJK group coordinators "coordinate," "Coordinate" means getting touch with member project leads, listening to their needs, taking up issues and putting them on agenda, and leading discussion, For example, organizing the wiki, IRC meetings, raising issues on the mailing lists and so on.
    2. Current coordinator, Hirano, asked for help and good idea to organize and update the wiki page and make it more informative and helpful for group member projects.
    3. More CJK group coordinators are needed to organize OOoRegiCon Asia 2010 Spring in Seoul.
    4. Aijin suggested we may need to call for volunteers (to be a CJK group coordinator) in each lang team.
